10th bauerfeind phlebology award

World Congress of Phlebology

On August 26, 2019, Prof. Mark Whiteley was in Krakow during the World Congress of the International Union of Phlebology (UIP) with the 10th Bauerfeind Phlebology Award. Bauerfeind has been awarding the prize every two years since 2001 in cooperation with the UIP. Prof. Mark Whiteley. The winner receives the prize of 20,000 euros for his research project on the influence of compression therapy on patients with ovarian veins (Pelvic Congestion Syndrome). The disease which is still largely unexplored is a pathological enlargement of the ovarian veins, which can lead to some significant varicose veins of the pelvis. The British vein surgeon has been working for years for the research and teaching of venous diseases. He founded a foundation for the treatment of leg wounds in addition to the Whiteley clinics in Guildford, London and Bristol. Prior to that, Prof. Whiteley taught at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London's most popular teaching hospital.
